Ferozepur: A joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police led to the seizure of suspected heroin and opium during a raid in Ferozepur district on Saturday morning, officials said.
According to an officials, based on specific intelligence provided by the BSF Intelligence Wing, the team targeted a house in Gatti Rajoke village, resulting in the recovery of two packets of suspected heroin (weighing 1.076 kg) and one packet of suspected opium (weighing 2.192 kg).
However, the suspected smuggler managed to escape arrest before the raid. Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the individual.
The seized packets were wrapped in adhesive tape and had makeshift metal rings attached, indicating they were likely airdropped across the border using drones.
The Border Security Force (BSF) troops opened fire on suspected movement along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district late last night. The incident took place in the Ghagwal area, where multiple rounds were fired by BSF troops.
According to official sources, at approximately 1 AM, a sentry of BSF, under the jurisdiction of Ghagwal Police Station, observed suspicious movement near the border. In response, the sentry fired multiple rounds towards the suspected direction.
