New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, has transferred Justice Yashwant Varma from the Delhi High Court to his parent High Court in Allahabad. This decision comes after huge cash pile recovery from Justice Varma's home.

At around 11 am, the court master of Justice Varma's court announced that the division bench was on leave on Friday and any urgent mentioning can be made before another bench.

The Supreme Court Collegium has reportedly decided to transfer Justice Varma from the Delhi High Court to his parent Allahabad High Court on the allegations of recovery of huge cash from his residence.

Senior advocate Arun Bhardwaj mentioned before a bench of Chief Justice Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela to take some steps so that such incidents do not happen in future.

"We respect the system a lot. Each of the judges are respected a lot. We are shaken my lords and demoralised. Please take some steps. I am not expressing my pain any further and I am sure I am expressing the pain of many of my brothers. Please take some steps to see that such incidents do not happen," Bhardwaj said.

Justice Yashwant Varma has been serving as a judge of the Delhi High Court since October 2021. His tenure in Delhi, however, appears to have been cut short following allegations and the subsequent cash recovery. The recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium have now been forwarded to the Central government for implementation.

A fire at the residence of Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma led to the recovery of a massive pile of cash, crating waves within judicial circles. The incident, which reportedly happened on March 14, prompted the Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, to order his immediate transfer to the Allahabad High Court on March 20.
