New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Delhi chief Shoaib Jamai has challenged and threatened the Delhi government, stating that they will offer namaz on roads in the national capital if mosques lack sufficient space.

The AIMIM leader emphasised that this is not Sambhal or Meerut, adding that they would offer namaz on roads, Eidgah grounds, or even rooftops if mosque space becomes inadequate.

He further pointed out that if roads can be blocked for religious festivities, processions, and the Kanwar Yatra for several days, then arrangements should also be made for Eid prayers, which last only for 10-15 minutes.

AIMIM's Shoaib Jamai alleged that in Delhi also the BJP leaders have begun making baseless comments about Muslims, such as claims that shops will be shut down and that namaz will not be allowed on roads.

He emphasised that those making such statements must understand that this is not Sambhal or Meerut, but Delhi—a city for everyone. He asserted that they will offer namaz, celebrate Eid, and ensure everyone contributes to it. If mosques lack sufficient space, namaz will be offered on roads.

Clarifying his stance, Shoaib Jamai urged Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to instruct her ministers not to disrupt the harmony in Delhi with provocative statements, as people are observing. He stressed that it is the responsibility of the Delhi police to make necessary arrangements, as people will gather to celebrate Eid.

He further questioned why Muslims cannot freely practice their religion, stating that the country should not operate under majoritarian rule but in accordance with the constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion for everyone.

As the month of ramadan is approaching its end, the Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrate either on March 30 or 31, 2025, depending on the sighting of the moon.

In Uttar Pradesh, strict instructions have been given to authorities to not allow people offering namaz at public places or on roads as it leads to traffic jams and cause inconvenience to the people.
