New Delhi: A Delhi-Mumbai Akasa Air Flight was diverted to Ahmedabad on Monday after a security alert was sounded onboard. The QP 1719 flight, travelling from Delhi to Mumbai, was carrying as many as 186 passengers, including an infant, and six crew.
After diversion to Ahmedabad, the Akasa Air Flight safely landed at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 am, said the airline officials. In subsequent action, all the passengers were evacuated safely.
“As per prescribed safety and security procedures, the plane was diverted to Ahmedabad. The Captain followed all required emergency procedures and landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:13 hrs. All passengers have been deplaned,” an airline official told Republic.
“Akasa Air is following and supporting all safety and security protocols on the ground,” the official added.
In a separate incident on June 2, a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight with 306 passengers onboard from Paris, received a bomb threat, prompting the authorities to declare full emergency at the city airport prior to its touchdown in Mumbai.
In yet another incident, an IndiGo flight travelling to Delhi from Varanasi received a bomb threat on June 1. Subsequently, all passengers were evacuated safely from the aircraft after its landing at Delhi airport. In a statement, the airline said flight 6E 2232, operating from Varanasi to Delhi, had received a bomb threat.
