New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Saturday registered an FIR over the bursting of firecrackers outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal 's residence in the Civil Lines area, after he was released from the Tihar Jail on Friday. The police have booked unknown persons for bursting crackers even though a ban has been imposed on the sale and use of firecrackers in Delhi in the wake of the air pollution during the winter.

The firecrackers were busted on Friday after Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail, in the Delhi excise policy scam case.

Notably, the Delhi government announced a ban on the production, sale, and use of firecrackers in the city to control air pollution during the winter season on Monday.

The police officials have booked unknown persons under Section 223 (disobedience to orders promulgated by a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Civil Lines Police Station.

An official stated, "A case under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against unknown persons."

Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Friday in a corruption case involving the Delhi excise policy filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
