Delhi to Roll Out Citywide ‘Child Beggar-Free’ Campaign: CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that the city government will soon launch a comprehensive ‘Child Beggar-Free Delhi’ campaign covering all 13 districts. The initiative seeks to protect children found begging on streets, at public places and major traffic intersections, while focusing on rehabilitation rather than coercive removal.

In a video message shared on X, the Chief Minister said the campaign will prioritise counselling for families, addressing their underlying difficulties and offering better alternatives for the children’s future. The effort will be carried out in collaboration with the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) and non-governmental organisations.

Authorities will also work to identify and expose organised gangs that force children into begging. Gupta stressed that no child will be moved by force as part of the drive.

The Chief Minister invited public suggestions on the campaign, urging residents to share ideas through comments or direct messages on the platform.
