Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat is personally leading combing operations in the forests of Hiranagar, following the recovery of a terror consignment.

Accompanied by troops of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), the DGP is actively participating in the search operation, armed with an AK rifle, as security forces intensify their crackdown on terrorists of Jaish active in the area.

The operation comes after security forces recovered crucial belongings of the terrorists involved in the Kathua encounter.

The recovered items include magazines of an M4 rifle, a significant cache of ammunition, clothing, and other supplies, pointing to a well-planned infiltration attempt.

"In the aftermath of the Kathua encounter, terrorists attempting to flee through the dense forests of Hiranagar ditched their gear to lighten their load and move faster through the rugged terrain. Security forces recovered four M4 rifle magazines, four IED packs, multiple pairs of shoes, a bulletproof jacket, a sleeping bag, a tracksuit, and other essential supplies.

This indicate that the terrorists were carrying heavy gear, which slowed their movement, forcing them to shed weight while escaping. Combing operations are underway," the official said.
