Diamond Worker Extorted Rs 75,000 After Falling Into Honeytrap In Surat
Three persons posing as police officials barged into apartment complex in Surat where a man and woman were present. They demanded extortion of Rs 75,000.
Surat: A 39-year-old man was extorted of Rs 75,000 by three persons who posed as police officers after falling into the honeytrap.
According to police officials, the victim, who is a diamond worker, was contacted by one of his friends that a woman is available for companionship.
At residential apartments in Katargam, his friend introduced him to a woman who was about 40 years old. As the victim and the woman proceeded to another room, three persons posing as police officials barged in and displayed their fake credentials. Later, they assaulted the victim and the girl present there.
The perpetrators first demanded Rs 3 lakh from the victim after breaking into the flat and handcuffing him. After negotiating the amount down to Rs 75,000, they escorted the victim to a safe deposit vault and then fled with the extorted money.
A case has been registered against five individuals, including a woman, and one of them.
