Mangaluru: A retired BSNL employee has been arrested in Karnataka’s Mangaluru for allegedly attempting to murder his neighbor by intentionally ramming his car into the latter’s motorcycle amid a longstanding dispute.
The accused, identified as 69-year-old Satish Kumar KM, a resident of Bejai, was taken into custody after the incident, which occurred on March 13 at 6th Main Road in Bijai Kapikad.
According to police reports, Satish Kumar had an ongoing conflict with the victim, Murali Prasad. In 2023, he was previously booked by the Urwa police for verbally abusing and colliding with Murali Prasad’s father while the latter was riding a bike.
The incident took place around 8:15 am when Murali Prasad was riding his motorcycle. Satish Kumar, who was waiting in his car, allegedly accelerated at high speed and rammed into Murali Prasad with the intent to kill.
The force of the collision also resulted in a pedestrian woman being hit, leaving her with bleeding injuries. Murali Prasad sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Following the incident, police arrested Satish Kumar KM and seized his vehicle. A case has been registered at the Urwa police station under charges of attempted murder. Additionally, another case has been filed at the Mangaluru Traffic West police station for negligent driving and injuring a pedestrian.
The accused was presented before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody.
