Kupwara: An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 struck the Kupwara region of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The earthquake reportedly hit the region at 8.47 pm on Sunday leading to moderate tremors felt by the residents. 

According to the seismic data, the epicentre of the earthquake was located at a latitude of 34.28 N and a longitude of 74.00 E. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km.

As of now, there are no reports of any damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond in case of any emergencies.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir is a seismically active region, and earthquakes of varying magnitudes are common in the area. The region's unique geology, with the Himalayan mountain range, makes it prone to earthquakes.
