New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in the kitchen of a Bikkgane Biryani restaurant at Connaught Place in Delhi on Thursday morning.
Six fire tenders were rushed to the site to douse the blaze after receiving an alert around 11:55 am.
However, the fire is yet to be brought under control.
The fire broke out in the restaurant's kitchen due to a leakage in an LPG cylinder.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), six people have sustained severe burn injuries. They were rushed to RML Hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident, a major fire broke out at Kingdom of Dreams (KOD), a renowned cultural and entertainment complex in Gurugram, on Thursday morning. The complex has been closed for nearly three years.
According to a fire official, the fire has been brought under control, and no injuries have been reported.
Around 6:45 am, the guards at KOD alerted the fire service, leading to the dispatch of ten fire tenders to the scene, said fire officer Rameshwar Singh.
This was the second fire incident at the complex in two years, located in Sector 29 of Gurugram.
The fire reportedly started in Culture Galli, an area that previously featured arts and cuisines from across the country.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, as the electricity was off at the time.
It’s worth noting that in July 2022, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) had sealed KOD due to unpaid dues running into crores, halting all theatre shows and cultural events since then.
