Prayagraj: A massive fire broke out at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 due to a cylinder blast in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Sunday,
As per officials, the fire broke out in the tents of Gita Press. No casualties were reported in the incident.
"Two cylinders exploded in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela, causing a massive fire in the camps. Fire fighters are trying to douse the blaze," Akhara Police Station In-charge Bhaskar Mishra said.
CM Yogi Adityanath Reaches Mahakumbh Fire Incident Site
Quick action by the authorities stopped the fire from spreading, and thankfully, no one was hurt. CM Yogi Adityanath learned about the fire and gave instructions to the officers. Following this, senior officials arrived at the scene, and CM Yogi Adityanath also reached the spot himself.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 official X handle posted, "Very sad! The fire incident at #MahaKumbh has shocked everyone. The administration is ensuring immediate relief and rescue operations. We pray Maa Ganga for everyone's safety." It also shared a clip that showed a thick black column of smoke billowing out from the affected area.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the fire incident that took place in the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, in Prayagraj. Fire tenders are present at the spot and have been brought under control. Senior officers are present on the spot on the instructions of the Chief Minister, an official statement issued by the CMO read.

Ravindra Kumar, DM, Prayagraj says, "The fire broke out at 4.30 pm in sector 19 in the tent of Gita press. The fire spread to the nearby 10 tents. The police and administration team reached the spot. The fire has been extinguished. There is no information on any casualty. The situation is under control..."
PM Modi Calls CM Yogi
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled UP CM Yogi Adityanath following the massive fire incident that erupted at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Sector 19 on Sunday. PM Modi took stock of the situation regarding the fire incident during his conversation with the chief minister. The Chief Minister apprised him of all the facts. CM Yogi said that the fire was controlled in time by the efficient fire brigade and the NDRF, SDRF team. There have been no casualties and the situation is under control.
