Fourth Railway Line Cleared Through Strategic Chicken’s Neck Corridor

Katihar: The Centre has approved a fourth railway line on the strategically vital ‘Chicken’s Neck’ corridor, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava said on Wednesday.
The Malda–New Jalpaiguri section forms a critical rail link connecting India’s Northeast with the rest of the country. While a third line had earlier been proposed for this stretch, the government has now cleared a fourth line as well, Shrivastava informed reporters at a press conference.

He also highlighted another key project in the region, a nearly 29-km double-line underground railway between Tinmai Ghat and Bagdogra, describing it as an important infrastructure initiative.
