Ganesh Pandal Organisers Refuse to Lower Music Volume, Man Commits Suicide in Chhattisgarh
Sahu was found hanging in his house after an argument with the organisers of a Ganesh pandal over loud music.
Durg: A 55-year-old man with a heart ailment allegedly took his own life in Durg, Chhattisgarh , following an argument with the organisers of a Ganesh pandal over loud music, police reported on Monday.
Man Commits Suicide Over Loud Music
The incident occurred Sunday morning in the Hathkhoj area, under the jurisdiction of Purani Bhilai police station. Dhannu Lal Sahu and his family had objected to the loud music being played at the nearby Ganesh pandal on Saturday night, citing his health condition, according to officials. Despite the family's pleas, the organisers refused to reduce the volume. Sahu called police helpline 112 and called police to intervene in the matter. Police tried to convince the organisers to turn off the music, considering Sahu's health complications, PTI reported.
Man Claims Pandal Organisers Harassed Him
The dispute escalated further and both parties visited the police station but did not file formal complaints. On Sunday morning, Sahu was found hanging in his house. Police also discovered a note, allegedly written by Sahu, which has mentioned that pandal organiser harassed him and this is why he is taking this step. Authorities are verifying the note's authenticity.
An accidental death report has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
