Haryana Elections: 'High Command Will Not Ignore...', Kumari Shelja Throws Hat in CM Ring | WATCH

Chandigarh: Congress MP Kumari Selja has staked her claim for the position of Haryana Chief Minister, emphasizing that the party's top leadership cannot overlook her candidacy. Selja said that she possesses the necessary credentials in terms of seniority, experience, and other relevant factors.

Selja said that she is wholly committed to the party and her commitments towards Congress cannot be questioned. 

“ Congress generally doesn't declare names for CM candidates. It is only for the high command to answer and they will have to decide (about the CM candidate). There will be some people in the consideration zone and I think Selja will be among them. The high command will look at seniority, work and all these things, so the high command will not ignore Selja in this. My commitment to the party has never been in question, this is one thing they know and they are sure of," said Selja in an interview with news agency ANI.

In this regard, Congress MP Deepender Hooda who is also a possible candidate from Congress for the position of CM said that there is nothing wrong with Kumari Selja’s remarks as his party has always adopted a democratic model. 

"CM candidate will be decided by the party's high command. This is the process in the Congress Party. Nothing is wrong with this. High command decides that," Deepender Hooda said.  

In the 2019 elections, the BJP became the single largest party, winning 40 seats, while the Congress party secured 30 seats.
