Shimla: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that Himachal Pradesh will experience rainfall in major parts of the state till April 21.
The weather office said that apart from Tuesday, the state will witness spells of showers till Friday.
The Met office also predicted light rain and snow at isolated places in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, from Wednesday to Friday.
According to the official data, Himachal Pradesh has received 75.6 mm of rain from March 1 to 17, compared to a normal of 63.8 mm.
Earlier, India Meteorological Department on Saturday issued an avalanche alert for Himachal Pradesh.
IMD issued an orange alert for the possibility of avalanches in high altitude areas of Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti districts.
The met department issues orange alert as a warning of extremely bad weather with the potential of disruption in commute with road and rail closures, and interruption of power supply.
Earlier, several parts of the Delhi received light rainfall on Friday, bringing a much-needed respite from rising temperatures as Delhiites celebrated Holi . The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the effects of the Western Disturbance over North India will continue until March 15, possibly leading to more showers in the region.
