‘How Stupid Can You Become?’: Annamalai Mocks Stalin, Drops Rupee Symbol Trivia

Chennai: Launching a scathing attack at Chief Minister MK Stalin, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Thursday questioned the DMK government’s “stupid” move to drop rupee symbol from the state budget.

Annamalai stated that the rupee symbol which has been incorporated in the whole country was designed by Udaya Kumar, who is a son of a former legislator of MK Stalin’s own party DMK.

Questioning the ‘stupid’ move, Annamalai said that the symbol dropped by the DMK government was designed by a Tamilian.  

“The DMK Government's State Budget for 2025-26 replaces the Rupee Symbol designed by a Tamilian, which was adopted by the whole of Bharat and incorporated into our Currency. Thiru Udhay Kumar, who designed the symbol, is the son of a former DMK MLA. How stupid can you become, Thiru MK Stalin ?” Annamalai posted on X.

 Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin released a video showcasing the logo for the Budget of 2025-26. The logo of the national currency symbol has been substituted with the Tamil Alphabet 'Ru'.

DMK government will present the budget 2025-26 in the Tamil Nadu assembly on March 14.

The move to drop rupee symbol comes amid DMK government's clash with the Centre on certain provisions of the National Education Policy.
