Incessant Rain Causes Water Logging and Highway Closure in Rajasthan, NH 11B closed
Heavy rains in Rajasthan have caused waterlogging and highway closures, with continued heavy rainfall expected over the next 24 hours.
Incessant rain across several districts of Rajasthan has resulted in severe waterlogging in low-lying areas, with one national highway closed for vehicular movement. The Meteorological Department has forecasted continued heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. Significant rainfall was reported in Bharatpur, Karauli, Kota, and Pratapgarh as of 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Rajakheda in Dholpur recorded the highest rainfall at 237 mm, followed by Dholpur with 186 mm, Aklera in Jhalawar with 130 mm, and Sawai Madhopur with 159 mm.
Due to the ongoing downpour, water has been released from ten gates of the Parvati Dam, and the Urmila Sagar Dam on Dholpur Bari road has overflowed. Consequently, National Highway 11B, which connects Dholpur to Karauli, has been closed to traffic.
The Meteorological Center Jaipur reported that the 'depression' formed over Madhya Pradesh has moved to south-western Uttar Pradesh and is expected to weaken into a 'well-marked low pressure' in the next 24 hours. This weather system is likely to bring heavy rain to some areas in Bharatpur, Jaipur, and Kota divisions, with lighter, moderate rain expected in Ajmer and Udaipur divisions.
A decrease in heavy rainfall is anticipated from September 13, with sporadic light to moderate rain likely from September 14 to 17. Western Rajasthan is expected to remain mainly dry, with only isolated light to moderate rain.
