New Delhi: Amid the Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI ) interim order, which exposed questionable fund diversions and governance lapses by the promoters of Gensol Engineering, the spotlight is now on the luxury real estate at DLF Camellias in Gurgaon a high-profile address already synonymous with India’s corporate elite. 

The SEBI investigation found that Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi, promoters of Gensol Engineering, allegedly treated their listed company as a personal cash cow. Among the most eye-popping revelations was the diversion of Rs 42.94 crore through Anmol Singh Jaggi’s Capbridge Ventures to finance a luxury apartment in DLF Camellias. Other alleged misdeeds included splurging on a luxury golf set, paying off credit card bills, and funding travel and leisure, all at the company’s expense.

But as Gensol’s corporate scandal unfolds, DLF Camellias, a prestigious and ultra-exclusive development nestled within the DLF Golf Links, continues to shine as a prime destination for the who's who of India’s business world. 

According to documents from CRE Matrix, a property consulting firm, three businessmen have recently added luxury apartments in The Camellias to their portfolios. Among them is Deep Kalra, the founder and chairman of MakeMyTrip, whose purchase signals his ongoing commitment to high-end, luxury living. 

Sameer Manchanda, the chairman and managing director of Den Networks, also acquired a lavish 10,813 square-foot apartment at the Camellias for a massive Rs 37.83 crore. Manchanda, along with his wife Kavita, now has a home among the corporate elites of Gurgaon. 

Meanwhile, Ashish Gurnani, son of the former MD of Tech Mahindra CP Gurnani, also secured a 7,430 square-foot residence within the same complex. His family continues the trend, with his daughter Sanya Gurnani and wife Anita Gurnani purchasing another 7,430 square-foot apartment for Rs 21.75 crore.

Noteworthy investors include Ashneer Grover, former managing director of BharatPe, who has made a mark in the startup world; Varun Alagh, founder of Honasa; and Aman Gupta, founder of boAt. Additionally, Peyush Bansal of Lenskart and Vikram Chopra of Cars24 have been seen putting their money where the luxury is, acquiring stunning properties in this elite enclave. 

Corporate magnates like JC Chaudhry, founder of Aakash Educational Services, and Hemant Agarwal, CMD of V-Bazaar Retail, are also making their mark at The Camellias. High-powered investors such as Puneet Bhatia of TPG Capital and Arvind Mendiratta of Hippo Stores have also joined the ranks of the property owners at this exclusive address.

The exclusivity of The Camellias is not limited to ownership even rentals are priced to match the status of its inhabitants. Unfurnished apartments here are available for a minimum monthly rent of Rs 10.5 lakh, while furnished units can command rents upwards of Rs 14 lakh. This makes it one of the most prestigious and sought-after properties in India.

2023 also saw the most significant deal in the area a re-trade of an 11,000 square-foot unit for a staggering Rs 114 crore. The deal, which underscores the soaring real estate prices in the area, is a testament to the allure and desirability of the Camellias brand.

Adding to the glitz and glamour, Smiti Agarwal, director at Wesbok Lifestyle and wife of Hemant Agarwal of V-Bazaar, made headlines in January 2024 with a record-breaking acquisition of an apartment for Rs 95 crore.
