Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faced backlash on social media after he was seen talking and laughing during the National Anthem at a sports event in Patna.
A video circulating on social media shows Nitish Kumar speaking to his Principal Secretary, Deepak Kumar, and laughing about something while the National Anthem was being played. While the Chief Minister appeared distracted and tapped on his Principal Secretary, the IAS officer stood still, paying attention to the Anthem.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav took a dig at Nitish Kumar saying he was not mentally and physically stable and urged him not to insult the National Anthem at least.
Taking to X, Tejashwi Yadav wrote, “You insult youth, students, women, and elderly people every day. Sometimes you clap on Mahatma Gandhi's martyrdom day and mock his sacrifice, and sometimes you clap during the National Anthem!”
He further added, “Let me remind you that you are the Chief Minister of a big state. You are not mentally or physically stable even for a few seconds, and your being in this position in such an unconscious state is a matter of great concern for the state. Do not insult Bihar like this again and again.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's conduct during the National Anthem at a Patna event didn't go well as people on social media questioned his mental and physical state suggesting the leader should take some rest now.
Criticising the Bihar Chief Minister, a user named Shivani Verma remarked that the retirement age in politics should also be fixed.
Another user, Bahujan Hitaichi, wrote on X, “If the person entrusted with the responsibility of running the state cannot even show respect for the National Anthem, it clearly indicates that the leadership in Bihar is now merely symbolic, with someone else running the government behind the scenes.”
Expressing dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister’s conduct, one user commented, “Judging by the actions of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the National Anthem, it can definitely be said that his mental health is not in good condition. He should immediately consult a skilled psychiatrist. He is in no state to continue as Chief Minister.”
Another user, Sonu Kumar Yadav said that it's clear that Nitish Kumar is exhausted. His mental condition has become completely unstable. He has been occupying the same position for so long. Now he should rest.
A user named Dr R Panda expressed disappointment at Nitish Kumar's actions saying the condition of the state has remained the same since the beginning.
