J&K Police busts terror module in Awantipora by arresting six terror suspects and recovering huge cache of IEDs, Arms and ammunition

Awantipora: The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested six terror suspects in Awantipora, having links with Pakistan -based terror outfits and recovered a huge cache of ammunition and explosives along with other incriminating materials from their possession. According to the police officials, the Awantipora police got specific input that a Pakistan -based Kashmiri terrorist of the JeM outfit was in the process of identification of the youth, who could be motivated to join terror groups. Not only this, after finding such youth, who could be radicalised, arms, ammunition and explosives were being delivered to these youths to commit terror activities before their formal joining into terror groups. 

Based on the intelligence information, a case under relevant sections was registered at the Tral Police Station and a probe was initiated. During the investigation, the police identified the youths who were part of this module. It came to the fore that Pakistan -based terrorists with the assistance of an OGW in jail identified many youths who were motivated by them to join terror ranks in the Tral area of Awantipora and Kulgam district.

After the identification, these youths were provided pistols, grenades, IEDs and other explosive materials to facilitate their joining into terror ranks. Shockingly, before inducting them into terror ranks, these youths were instructed to do some terror activities either by target killing, throwing grenades at public places or security forces or laying and detonating IEDs.

During investigations, It also came to the fore that Pakistan -based terrorist handlers had chosen some places for planting of IEDs with the assistance of these youth. The terrorist handler has also pumped in some money to carry out the tasks and to procure material for the fabrication of more IEDs.

So far 06 terrorist associates have been arrested in the case and from possession and upon disclosures of these accused persons, a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives including 05 IEDs with remotes, 30 Detonators, 17 Batteries for IEDs, 02 Pistols, 03 Pistol Magazines, 25 live rounds of Pistol, 04 Hand grenades and Cash amount of Rs 20000 have been recovered.  

Investigation of the case is underway & more arrests and recoveries are likely in the case.
