Kolkata: Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami has issued a strong message to the authorities and what he called "anti-national forces" inside Jadavpur University after three Republic Bangla reporters were allegedly attacked on campus. The incident, which took place during live reporting, saw male students reportedly assaulting female journalists - Pinki and Hridita, prompting sharp condemnation from Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief.

Condemning the attack, Arnab Goswami accused leftist unions and the Trinamool Congress of fostering an environment where journalists are targeted for asking questions.

‘Jadavpur Has Become a Den of Leftist Unions’

"What you're seeing is complete hooliganism and the use of force against Republic Bangla reporters inside the Jadavpur University campus. The point is very clear—Jadavpur has been turned into a den of certain leftist unions. These unions, along with the Trinamool Congress, have created an environment where no one can enter the campus and ask a single question. If you ask questions, they attack you," Arnab said.

‘R Bangla Reporters Physically Assaulted, Illegally Detained’

Detailing the attack on Republic Bangla’s team, Arnab stated that male students had physically assaulted female reporters Hridita and Pinky.

"Today, our reporters were attacked and physically beaten. Male students assaulted female Republic Bangla reporters inside the campus. This happened before our very eyes. Hridita and Pinki were simply reporting when they were confronted, physically assaulted, and then illegally detained by the Jadavpur University registrar in his office. Despite this, there was no police protection," he said.

‘These Student Unions Are the Real Dalals’

"These students have gone all out in an act of complete hooliganism and gundaism against Republic Bangla’s reporting team. They call us 'dalals' (agents), but the truth is that these student unions are the real dalals—serving foreign interests and imperialist forces while pretending to fight against them," he said.

‘We Will Not Leave the Campus’

Vowing to continue Republic Bangla’s coverage from Jadavpur University, Arnab declared that the network would not be intimidated. "We have decided not to leave the campus. If we leave, it would imply that we accept this lawlessness. We are standing our ground. We have multiple cameras and reporting teams inside Jadavpur University. We will not be stopped, held back, or intimidated. The campus does not belong to these hooligans, these goons, or those who support divisive forces," he said.

‘Republic Bangla Will Not Back Down’

Tearing into Mamata Banerjee's administration for allowing attacks on the media, Arnab further accused her government of being "anti-democratic." "Under Mamata Banerjee’s watch, the media is being attacked. She is anti-media, anti-democratic, and dictatorial. She wants to create an atmosphere of fear, where journalists are silenced. But Republic Bangla will not be silenced. These attackers stand for nothing. They can only try to beat up our reporters, but we will not back down," Arnab said.

‘Jadavpur University Is Now a Symbol of Lawlessness’

Expressing pride in R Bangla reporters for standing strong despite the attack, Arnab declared that the incident was indicative of a larger breakdown of law and order in the state.

"I am incredibly proud of our reporters—Hridita, Pinky, Shuntu, and every team member standing strong. We are receiving tremendous support from across the country. We are rolling this coverage so that the nation can see what happens when lawlessness takes over a state. Jadavpur University is now a symbol of this breakdown of law and order," he said.

‘Republic Bangla Will Not Be Deterred’

Calling the attack a "moment of shame," Arnab reaffirmed Republic Bangla’s commitment to fearless journalism.

"This is a moment of shame—an open attack on the media, playing out before the entire country. But Republic Bangla will not be deterred. Our reporters stand united in journalistic solidarity. Right now, we have seven Republic Bangla reporters live on the ground. We are showing more courage than the Bengal government, which remains invisible. Mamata Banerjee’s administration has given up because they are all complicit. But we are fighting back," he said.

Meanwhile,  the attack on Republic Bangla's team has sparked outrage, with many questioning the law and order situation on the Jadavpur University campus. Meanwhile, the Republic Media Network has vowed to continue its coverage, asserting that intimidation will not silence its voice.
