Judge Cash Scandal: SC Disposes Off Petition Seeking FIR Against Justice Yashwant Varma

The Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court has been instructed not to assign any judicial work to Justice Yashwant Varma. “The Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court for the time being has been asked not to assign any judicial work to Mr. Justice Yashwant Varma, when he assumes charge as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court,” said the Supreme Court. 

The three member Judge commitee is seeking written responses from the Delhi Police top brass that includes Delhi Police Commisioner and Deputy Commisioner of Police. Along with this the statements of Delhi Fire Service in written are going to be also taken. Once the statements are provided they will corroborate all these evidences and find out whether there any any anomalies.

Justice Yashwant Varma to Return to Parent Allahabad High Court as Centre Clears Transfer

Cutting across party lines, Odisha lawmakers on Friday requested Speaker Surama Padhy to issue a ruling directing the government to raise salaries of MLAs and pensions for former legislators.

The issue was raised during Zero Hour by Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, who highlighted the financial hardships faced by ex-MLAs due to inadequate pensions that do not align with inflation.

Disposing off the plea seeking an FIR against the Delhi HC Judge, the apex court said, “There is no basis to interfere in this matter today. In-house inquiry is going on right now. There may be many options after the report comes.”

Justice Oka, while dismissing the plea, said, “Heard petitioner in person. As far as grievance regarding third respondent is concerned as can be seen from supreme court website the in house inquiry proceedings are underway. After the report is submitted by the committee there will be several options open for the CJI. Therefore at this stage not correct to entertain the plea at this stage. At this stage it is not needed to reconsider judgments of this court.”

The petition filed by SC advocate Mathews Nedumapra, seeking an FIR against Justice Yashwant Varma of the Delhi High Court, has been dismissed by the a two-judge bench of the top court, comprising of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan

The two-judge Supreme Court bench of Justices Oka and Bhuyan has begun hearing the plea seeking an FIR against Delhi HC judge Yashwant Varma, over alleged corruption charges after unaccounted burnt cash was recovered from his residence in a fire incident.

According to sources Justice Varma's appearance is scheduled before the internal committee at 1 PM

Hearing Against Pastor Bajinder Singh to Begin in Mohali Court Shortly.

Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora confirmed to Republic TV that the POCSO Act has been added to the sexual assault case against self-styled pastor Bajinder Singh.

This comes after a 22-year-old woman filed a case on February 28. According to her statement to the police, Bajinder Singh had been inappropriately touching her on multiple occasions since 2020.

The complainant revealed that she first started visiting the Church of Glory and Wisdom when she was 17 years old. She further stated that her parents had been attending the church since 2017.

Amid the ongoing Judge Cash Scandal, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, has ordered the reconstitution of several administrative committees that included Justice Yashwant Varma. The order on the court's website read, “The Committees of Hon’ble Judges of this Court are reconstituted with immediate effect.”

The petition filed by Supreme Court advocate Mathews Nedumpara, is seeking stricter action against Delhi HC Judge Yashwant Varma and that he must be subjected to criminal charges, not a transfer.
