New Delhi: A group of BJP rebels from Karnataka, led by MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, arrived in Delhi on Monday to request party national president JP Nadda to remove state unit chief BY Vijayendra. The rebel faction, which includes former legislators Kumar Bangarappa and Shrimant Patil, plans to stay in Delhi for two days to secure a meeting with Nadda.

The rebels alleged that Vijayendra's leadership has been ineffective, citing recent by-poll election losses. They accuse him of "adjustment politics" and not mounting an aggressive opposition to the Congress government. According to the party sources, the rebel group led by Vijayapura MLA Yatnal is seeking a leadership change before the upcoming state party president elections.

Rebel Group's Demands and Threats

The rebel group has hinted at fielding a candidate against Vijayendra if their demands are unmet, which could damage the party's internal cohesion. Sources indicate that more MLAs, including Basangouda Patil Yatna and BP Harish, along with former legislators Arvind Limbavali and Pratab Simha, are expected to join the delegation on Tuesday.

The group's confidence in securing a meeting with Nadda is strengthened by his recent meeting with party leader Limbavali. Before their Delhi trip, the rebel leaders also sought divine intervention, visiting the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru to seek blessings for their political mission.

While their previous attempt last month to meet Nadda was unsuccessful, the current delegation remains optimistic, despite Delhi Assembly polls and Budget session.
