Kozhikode: With onset of monsoon. isolated pockets across Kerala will continue to receive heavy rainfall, especially the northern districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for four districts on Saturday.
The Met department issued an orange alert for Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts and yellow alert for Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.

The weather bureau predicted squally weather with wind speed ranging from 35 kmph to 45 kmph and gusting to 55 kmph along and off Kerala coast on Saturday. The fishermen community have been advised not to venture into the sea.
IMD Heatwave Forecast
The heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in isolated pockets of northeast Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand from June 8 to 11. Whereas, Bihar is likely to experience heatwave conditions on June 9-10.

The Met department added that Odisha, Punjab, and Haryana may also encounter similar conditions from June 9-11. In Uttar Pradesh, some regions will experience heat wave to severe heat wave conditions from June 8-11. Additionally, hot and humid weather is forecasted in isolated pockets of Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal on June 8.
In major respite from scorching heat, IMD predicted increased rainfall activity along the coasts of Maharashtra and Karnataka on June 8. With the arrival of southwest monsoon, heavy rainfall is likley in Goa, Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, and Sikkim until June 10.
