Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Friday questioned the West Bengal government for establishing fast track special courts in only five to six districts to deliver swift justice for crimes against women. He said only recently, the state has sent fresh proposals to set up such courts in more districts.

Thousands of people across five districts of Imphal Valley on Friday formed human chains to protest the recent drone and gun attacks in Manipur that resulted in two civilian deaths and 12 injuries.      Participants also expressed dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the ongoing conflict in the state.

 Security personnel have recovered six improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Naxalites in a forest in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district, police said on Friday.A team of the district police who was out patrolling on Thursday recovered three IEDs weighing 4 kg each and three more weighing 3 kg each in the forest of Madgaon under the Dhanora police station limits, said Anil Vishwakarma, the sub-divisional officer of police, Farasgaon.

 Residents of Durga Pituri Lane in the city’s Bowbazar area on Friday engaged in a verbal duel with Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL) officials over persistent cracks and water leaks in local buildings, which they allege have been caused by drilling operations.

Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly sexually harassing a teenage girl and manhandling her parents, an official said on Friday.

The women and child development department of the government has formed the six-member committee to prepare guidelines for the verification drive and questionnaires for its around 3.8 lakh beneficiaries, they said.
