Lucknow Shock: Son Accused of Taking Dead Father's Thumbprint to Grab Land

New Delhi: A disturbing video from Kharauha village in the Rahimabad area of Lucknow has left people stunned. The video shows a man pressing his dead father's thumb onto blank sheets of paper. Villagers who saw this happening filmed it, and the clip has since spread widely online.

The man who died has been identified as Chhatrapal, an elderly resident of the village. His son is accused of carrying out the act, and according to some reports, a cousin was also present and helped him at the time.

Reports say Chhatrapal owned close to six and a half bigha of land. Over time, his relationship with his son turned sour, and he was allegedly forced out of his own home along with his wife. The elderly couple then lived with relatives before later moving in with one of their daughters in Lucknow.

Because of the way he had been treated, Chhatrapal decided to give one bigha of land to each of his three daughters. He also cut his son out of his property through a public notice in a newspaper, stating that he had been mistreated by his son and daughter-in-law.

Chhatrapal passed away, and it was during this time, right after his death, that relatives say they noticed something disturbing: his thumb was being pressed onto blank sheets of paper by his son. Villagers who witnessed the act recorded it on their phones.

Family members have alleged that this was done to create fake documents using the dead man's thumbprint, in an attempt to wrongly claim ownership of land that had already been given to his sisters.

As of the latest reports, no formal police complaint had been filed in connection with the incident, and there has been no confirmation yet of any police action being taken. The video, however, has caused widespread outrage online, with many people demanding a proper investigation and strict action against those responsible.
