Sambhal: The doors of Khaggu Sarai Shiva Temple in Sambhal reopened for Mahashivratri 2025, allowing hundreds of devotees to offer Jalabhishek to the Shivling after 46 years. The temple, located in the Khaggu Sarai area of Sambhal, had been closed since 1978 and was reopened in December 2024.

The reopening of the Khagusarai Shiva Temple is an emotional moment for Shiva devotees. Vishnu Sharan Rastogi, the caretaker of the temple, said, “We are able to offer prayers to Lord Shiv after 40 years. Our temples were closed, but today, under UP CM Yogi Adityanath's governance, this has been made possible.”

The Mahashivratri celebrations at the Khagusarai Shiva Temple attended by a large number of devotees who came to offer prayers and perform Jalabhishek. The temple premises were filled with chants of "Har Har Mahadev" as devotees poured water on the Shivling, seeking blessings and expressing their devotion.

The local administration made extensive security arrangements to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the celebrations. Police personnel were deployed in and around the temple premises to manage the crowd and maintain law and order.
