New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at supporting coconut farmers, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced a substantial increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 'Milling Copra' and 'Ball Copra' for the upcoming year 2024.

What will be the increased amount?

The MSP for 'Milling Copra' has been raised by ₹300 per quintal, while 'Ball Copra' sees an increase of ₹250 per quintal.

This decision is expected to provide a much-needed boost to coconut farmers across the country, ensuring better returns for their produce.

Expressing gratitude for the farmer-centric decision, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda stated, “This decision will empower our coconut farmers and provide them incentives for its production. I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for this decision taken in the interest of the farmer brothers.”

Why increase in MSP?

The increased MSP aims to not only enhance the income of coconut farmers but also serve as an incentive for increased production.

The move is aligned with the government's commitment to the welfare of the agricultural community.

The decision is anticipated to have a positive impact on the livelihoods of coconut farmers and contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector.
