Bahraich: People breathed a sigh of relief after the forest department captured the man-eater wolf in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district on Thursday morning. The deadly predator has claimed eight lives in the district so far.

After being rescued, the wolf was later taken to a rescue shelter of the forest department.

The non-stop operation to trap the wolf lasted for over 72-hour. Around, 25 forest department teams, equipped with three vision drones, nets, and tranquilizer guns, captured one of the three killer wolves from the sugarcane fields in Sisiya village, Bahraich on Thursday.

Meanwhile, efforts were underway to capture the remaining two wolves. According to sources, the forest dept officials had focused their efforts on the sugarcane fields in Sisiya village, where drone surveillance had detected the movement of the three wolves.

The tranquilised wolf, a male, is the fourth one caught by the forest department. It is believed that this predator had been on the hunt for the past two months.
