Mark Zuckerberg's Meta has fired around 20 employees for "leaking confidential information outside the company," according to reports.

Multiple sources indicated that more firings are expected in the coming days.

In a statement, Meta spokesperson confirmed that leaking internal information is against company policy.

Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold said, “We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminders, that it is against our policies to leak internal information, no matter the intent.”

The statement further explained that an investigation was conducted, leading to the termination of roughly 20 employees for sharing confidential information.

“We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more. We take this seriously and will continue to take action when we identify leaks,” Arnold added.

Recently, Zuckerberg announced drastic policy changes at the company, which led to a decline in employee morale. Employees expressed dissatisfaction after the company's DEI programs were abolished and subsequent layoffs of “low performers” affected around 3,000 employees. However, the company is tightening internal security controls to prevent leaks related to these changes.

Zuckerberg also expressed frustration in a private meeting with Meta employees about information getting leaked—an incident that, ironically, also eventually got leaked. He was reportedly heard telling employees to "buckle up" for the coming year and emphasized that Meta would be a productive partner with the White House.

Zuckerberg had said, “We try to be really open, and then everything I say leaks.”

Employees have been warned not to share internal information—though that warning also got leaked. Meta’s CTO, Andrew Bosworth, said the company is working to identify the individuals responsible for the leaks.
