Mumbai: As the nation is set to celebrate the festival of Holi on Friday, a long queue of vehicles was spotted at Mumbai- Goa Highway as holidaymakers are heading towards the Konkan region for the long weekend ahead.
The highway experienced severe traffic congestion due to the a large number of vehicles traveling along the route. The jam on the highway was also caused by the ongoing construction work on the Mumbai-Goa Highway.
Netizens have posted pictures and videos of the huge traffic jam on social media, showing cars barely moving.
To ease the congestion on the rail network, Central Railways have announced that Superfast Special Holi trains will be run between Mumbai and Kanpur.
Meanwhile, heavy vehicles will not be able to ply in the Navi Mumbai as strict restrictions have been imposed on them ahead of Martin Garrix’s Holi event.
The restrictions will be effective on March 14, from 2 PM to 12 AM.
The concert, being organized at DY Patil Stadium, is claimed to be the “World’s Biggest Holi Event” and is expected to be attended by thousands.
Navi Mumbai Traffic Department has prohibited the movement, entry, and parking of heavy goods transport vehicles across all city routes within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate during the specified time.
