Mathura Horror: Accused Sets Woman on Fire, Both Critical
After the woman refused to run away with Umesh, he poured petrol on her and set her on fire, inside her own house. The neighbours came in after they heard her screams; they rushed in to help, and the accused, who tried to escape by jumping off the terrace, hurt himself and was caught. Both the woman and the accused have been sent to the SN Medical College in Agra because they were in a critical condition.
According to the police, Umesh frequently visited Rekha’s house, and their bond grew stronger over time. On August 31 of the previous year, Rekha left her home with him. Her family later reported her missing to the police, and she was found and returned from Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh on February 10. Following the incident, Rekha separated herself from Umesh, recognizing her error. When she refused to accompany him today, he became furious and attempted to take her life.
