Amroha: A shocking revelation has emerged from Amroha, where Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami's sister, Shabina, has been found to have allegedly availed MNREGA benefits for three years. The scam, which involves Shabina, her husband and her brother-in-law Aamir Suhail, an MBBS student, has raised serious questions about the misuse of government funds and the lack of accountability in the system. According to reports, Shabina and Aamir Suhail had been receiving MNREGA wages despite not being eligible for the benefits. According to local sources, Shami's sister Shabina, her husband Ghaznavi, and his two younger brothers, Aamir Suhail and Shekhu, were listed as beneficiaries under the MNREGA scheme.

The sources revealed that all four family members had received huge amounts as wages under the scheme. As per claims, Shabina received Rs 71,013, while her husband Ghaznavi got Rs 65,000. Aamir Suhail, who is pursuing MBBS, received Rs 63,851, and Shekhu received Rs 67,000. The controversy has raised questions about the eligibility of Shami's family members for the MNREGA scheme, which is intended to provide employment and livelihood opportunities to rural households.

According to reports, the matter came to light after a complaint was filed, prompting CDO AK Mishra to instruct BDO Joya Block Lokchand Anand to investigate the matter. The investigation revealed that Shabina's mother-in-law is the village head, raising suspicions of corruption.

The investigation into the MNREGA scam has allegedly unearthed irregularities, bringing forth major corruption in the scheme. Sources claimed that during the preliminary inquiry, it was found that Shabina and Aamir Suhail had been receiving MNREGA benefits despite not meeting the eligibility criteria. The duo had managed to obtain MNREGA cards, which were later cancelled in August. However, the cancellation of the cards did not stop the duo from receiving the benefits, as they continued to draw wages from the government.

The scam has raised serious questions about the lack of accountability and oversight in the MNREGA scheme. The officials stated that the fact that Shabina and her other family members were able to avail MNREGA benefits for three years without being detected has exposed the vulnerabilities in the system.

The duo will now face recovery proceedings, as the government seeks to reclaim the wages paid to them. The scam has also raised questions about the role of Shabina's mother-in-law, the village head, in the scam.

The incident has also brought attention to the need for greater transparency and accountability in government schemes.

The local residents have called for action on the matter. They stated that the government must take immediate action to recover the wages paid to Shabina and others and ensure that those responsible for the scam are brought to justice.
