New Delhi: Monsoon has arrived in India and while residents of North India are enjoying the weather that gives them respite from the scorching heat, people in parts of north-east and central India are experiencing a rather dangerous, flood-like situation.
Speaking about the weather forecast for the upcoming week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall across the north-eastern and central parts of India including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam and Delhi-NCR among others.
While an alert has been issued in New Delhi for heavy rainfall, the flood-like conditions in Assam have claimed many lives and lakhs of people continue to remain affected by the incessant rainfall.

For the past few days, Delhi has been experiencing heavy rain, bringing down both the minimum temperature and the air quality index (AQI) in the national capital.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall can be experienced by those living in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

All schools and colleges have been closed in Nainital because of heavy rain.
The weather department has issued an alert in 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh, for heavy rainfall.
An alert for heavy rain has also been issued in Delhi-NCR for the coming five days.
There is a red alert for heavy rain in Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat, Almora, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar.
There is an orange alert for heavy rain in Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri and Pauri districts.
Yellow alert in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.
Following heavy rain and landslides, 77 roads were closed in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, said authorities.
Also due to the rain, 236 electricity supply schemes are disrupted and 19 water supply schemes have been hampered in the state today.
