More Than 60 Persons Injured After Bus Skids Into Roadside Ditch In Pilibhit
The bus driver lost control of the vehicle due to deep potholes on NH 74 near Pilhibit, according to passengers. More than 60 injured.
Pilibhit: A double-decker bus skidded into a roadside ditch on the Bareilly-Haridwar National Highway 74 near Pilibhit leaving more than 60 people injured.
According to passengers inside, the bus driver lost control due to deep potholes on the highway.
The bus was going from Bahraich district to Jalandhar in Punjab, carrying 85 passengers, most of whom were heading to Punjab for labour work, officials stated.
“The victims were transported to the community health centre at Amaria tehsil headquarters with the help of the locals. Eight critically injured passengers were later referred to the district hospital.” Those injured include Aman (17), Alkhu Chauhan (35), Rahul Singh (26), Chanda (10), Malti Devi (80), Shanti Devi (80), Shivam (18), and Ankit (24), all residents of different villages in Bahraich district,” police said.
“All victims were provided food by the revenue department. We will discuss the hazardous condition of the potholes with the National Highways Authority of India,” an official added.
