Mumbai: With temperatures rising steadily in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued dietary precautions to help residents prevent heatstroke. In an X post, the civic body shared essential tips and a diet plan that can be incorporated into daily routines to combat the extreme heat.
Key Dietary Precautions Shared by BMC
BMC advised Mumbaikars to avoid cooking during peak summer hours, as excessive heat exposure in the kitchen can lead to health issues. Moreover, the post stressed on the need to avoid certain beverages, including tea and coffee, which may have adverse effects on the body during high temperatures.
The civic body also suggested keeping doors and windows open to improve air circulation, particularly in the kitchen, to prevent heat buildup. Consuming stale food should also be avoided, as it may cause digestive discomfort and is unsuitable for the summer season.
Dos and Don'ts During a Heatwave
To help Mumbai residents stay safe and healthy, BMC shared a list of dos and don’ts for the summer:

The BMC said currently some parts of Maharashtra, including Greater Mumbai, are experiencing a heatwave as per the India Meteorological Department's forecast and this situation may continue till March 11. "Similarly, such situations may occur frequently in the months of March and April. In the backdrop of the frequent occurrence of heatwaves, guidelines are issued on what citizens should and should not do during this period," the release added.
