Wayanad Bypolls 2024: In a high-stakes political battle, the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) has fielded Navya Haridas to contest against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the Wayanad. This closely watched election is set to be a fierce contest, as Haridas, a rising star within the BJP , challenges the Congress scion in one of the grand old party's strongholds.

A by-election for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was necessitated after Rahul Gandhi , who secured victories in both Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the general elections, chose to vacate the Wayanad seat. The Election Commission has scheduled the by-election for November 13, with the results set to be announced on November 23. This contest is expected to be closely watched as major political players vie for the high-profile constituency.

Who is Navya Haridas?

Alongside Navya Haridas' nomination, the BJP has released its list of candidates for upcoming Assembly by-elections across several states, including Assam , Bihar , Chhattisgarh , Karnataka, Kerala , Madhya Pradesh , Rajasthan , and West Bengal.

In Madhya Pradesh , the ruling party has fielded Ramakant Bhargava from the Budhni seat, previously held by Shivraj Singh Chouhan . If reports are to be believed, Chouhan had been pushing for his son, Kartikey Chouhan, to contest from Budhni, but the party ultimately chose Bhargava as its candidate.
