Northeast Delhi’s Welcome Area Turns Battleground, Over 30 Bullets Fired Leaving Girl Injured

Delhi: A massive firing incident occurred in Northeast Delhi’s Welcome area between two groups in a crowded market on Saturday night leaving a 22-year-old girl injured, who was witnessing the incident from the second floor of her house. The incident sent a panic wave across the area, leading to a fearful environment. According to the sources, over 30 rounds of bullets were fired during the incident from both sides after an altercation broke out between the two jeans dealers over a monetary dispute. On information, the police team from the Northeast Delhi district rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to the GTB Hospital for treatment.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Northeast Delhi), Rakesh Paweriya said that information regarding the quarrel and firing at Z second Raja Market in Welcome was received by the police. Upon receiving the information, the ASI Vishal along with other police teams reached the place of occurrence of the crime, where empty cartridges were found in the street.
On inquiry, it was found that during the indiscriminate firing a bystander girl, identified as Ifra, received a gunshot injury by a stray bullet and was rushed to the GTB Hospital. The condition of the victim is claimed to be critical at the hospital.
During the initial probe, it was revealed that the firing incident was a result of a fight between jeans wholesalers over a money dispute. The Crime team and the forensics team reached the spot, from where a total of 17 exhibits were lifted including empty cartridges, live cartridges and deformed metal pieces.
After the incident, the police nabbed a few suspects alleged to be involved in the firing incident and a search for others is underway. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Meanwhile, the incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of the area, and an investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits and determine the circumstances surrounding the firing incident.
