Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that eight places in Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or more.
The weather office said that Jharsuguda was the hottest place in the state, recording a temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the evening bulletin from the IMD's Bhubaneswar center, Boudh recorded the highest temperature at 40.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda at 40.4 degrees Celsius.
The met department has issued 'yellow' warning (be aware) for the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sonepur for Friday.
Earlier the Odisha government had issued an advisory on Sunday to all district collectors following a forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) about rising daytime temperatures.
IMD had predicted that the daytime temperature is expected to increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days in the state.
Residents of Delhi-NCR can expect relief from soaring temperatures as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall across several parts of the country.
The wet spell, influenced by two cyclonic circulations, is set to begin from March 12 and continue until March 15.
