Offspring of Ministers Will Not Have Any Immunity: CM Shinde on Hit-And-Run Cases In Maharashtra
On the rising hit-and-run cases in Maharashtra, CM Eknath Shinde has said that whether the culprit is rich or influential, no one will get immunity under him.
Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has reacted to the alarming rise in hit-and-run cases in Maharashtra; he has said that the rich, the influential - no one will get immunity under his leadership.
Months after the Pune Porsche Crash, the Worli Hit-and-Run Case has been reported where the son of a Shiv Sena leader is the prime accused.
CM Shinde on Rise In Hit-And-Run Cases in Maharashtra
In a post on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), CM Shinde has condemned the hit-and-run cases in Maharashtra. Expressing concern, he said, “I am deeply alarmed by the rise in hit-and-run incidents in Maharashtra. It is intolerable that the powerful and influential misuse their status to manipulate the system...”
He further added, “The lives of ordinary citizens are precious to us. ...I have directed the State Police department to handle these cases with the utmost seriousness and ensure justice is served.”
‘No One Will Have Immunity As Long As I Am CM’
The Maharashtra Chief Minister has also said that under his leadership, he will ensure that no one, irrespective of how rich or influential they are, will be spared in such cases.
His post reads, "We are implementing stricter laws and harsher penalties for hit-and-run offenders. No one, whether rich, influential, or the offspring of bureaucrats or ministers, affiliated with any party, will have immunity as long as I am the Chief Minister of the State. I have zero tolerance for injustice."
Rise in Hit-And-Run Cases in Maharashtra
A few months ago, the Pune Porsche Crash was reported when a minor, son of a businessman killed two techies in a case of drunk driving; a similar case was reported in Pune weeks after this case.
Last morning, a BMW rammed into a scooter in Mumbai, killing a 45-year-old woman; the main accused is the 24-year-old son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah.
The main accused is absconding and the Mumbai Police has also issued an LoC against him.
In another case of hit-and-run in Pune, a four-wheeler hit a bike in Pune, killing a police personnel on duty and injuring another.
