New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is getting huge respect across the globe, adding that it was not the case before 2014.

Speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit 2025 —The Limitless India, the Chief Minister, while emphasizing the event’s theme, said that the “path to Limitless Bharat passes through limitless Delhi”.

“Delhi is the capital and heart of India. The national capital will now see progress that has not been witnessed in the past 27 years as there is a double-engine government,” CM Gupta said.

Asserting that India was always treated as a liability partner across the globe before 2014, Chief Minister said that the whole world wants to connect with India since the PM Modi took charge at the Centre.

“India was always treated as a liability before 2014. We were called the country of saperas. This was our perception everywhere. In 2014, a new chapter began when PM Modi took charge. Japan and China realized the potential of its population and considered it as an asset, but India only thought of utilizing it after PM Modi came to power. The whole world wants to connect with India. Indians feel proud when our PM is standing in the front row of the major global summits,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister further highlighted that the BJP -led Centre has always focused on women's empowerment and taken important steps in this regard.

“Women are handling important ministries at the Centre. This is not a symbolic step. I am proud to say that at a time when Nirmala Sitharaman is the country’s finance minister, similarly Rekha Gupta is the Delhi finance minister,” she said.

Urging opposition leaders to exercise caution while speaking about India on global platforms, CM Rekha Gupta said, “This country is yours too. Don’t criticize your own country on the global platforms. If you can do something good about the country, then do it; otherwise, you should sit quietly.”
