Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Air India CEO Campbell Wilson day after Air India plane AI-171 with 242 passengers onboard crashed in Ahmedabad. The meeting between the two went up for 20 minutes.
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson met with PM Modi a day after Republic confronted him, following the tragic AI-171 crash which killed 241 of the total 242 passengers.
When confronted on Thursday, Campbell Wilson had no answers regarding how the Air India flight crashed or what were the lapses.
The impact of the crash was so massive that the aircraft turned into a fireball, leaving little to no chance of survival. However, one passenger, identified as a British national seated in 11A, miraculously survived and was seen walking.
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson briefed PM Modi about the deadly AI-171 plane crash which claimed the lives of 241 people, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who was on the doomed flight.
PM Modi arrived in Ahmedabad early today to review the situation after the tragic Air India plane crash. He visited the crash site along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Bhai Patel, and other top ministers and officials.
The Prime Minister also held a crucial meeting with top authorities at Ahmedabad Airport today, in the wake of Air India plane crash. However, no details have surfaced so far as to what was discussed in this meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the family members of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was on the ill-fated AI-171 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, that crashed in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, PM Modi said, “Met the family of Vijaybhai Rupani Ji. It is unimaginable that Vijaybhai is not in our midst. I’ve known him for decades. We worked together, shoulder to shoulder, including during some of the most challenging times. Vijaybhai was humble and hardworking, firmly committed to the party's ideology. Rising up the ranks, he held various responsibilities in the organisation and went on to serve diligently as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.”
“In every role assigned to him, be it in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation or as a Rajya Sabha MP, as the state BJP president or as a cabinet minister and Chief Minister in the state government, he always struck a unique chord,” PM Modi wrote on X.
