New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi becomes the first Indian PM to visit Ghana after 30 years. President John Mahama of Ghana gave him a warm welcome at the airport.
PM Modi also received a Guard of Honour with a 21-gun salute at the airport upon his arrival.
During his two-day visit, PM Modi is scheduled to address Ghana’s Parliament, a rare honor that reflects the strategic importance of the visit. He will also engage in delegation-level talks and meet with the Indian diaspora, which numbers around 15,000 in Ghana.
The trip will expand collaboration in areas such as investment, trade, energy, infrastructure, health, education, security and capacity building.
Ghana is the first stop on PM Modi’s five-nation tour, also includes Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
The tour aims to strengthen India’s engagement with the Global South and reinforce its role as a key development partner across continents.
