New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s warm and respectful gesture towards Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) patriarch Sharad Pawar stole the spotlight at a recent Marathi Sahitya event. In a rare moment of camaraderie between two leaders from rival political camps, PM Modi was seen pulling a chair and pouring a glass of water for the veteran politician.

The moment quickly went viral, with social media users praising the display of mutual respect, calling it evidence of how language and culture can bridge political divides. “This proves language is the median for Love as two leaders of opposition parties meeting so heartily”, an X user said. Another said,"What a nice gesture".

When PM Modi Halts His Victory Speech to Check on Unwell BJP Worker

This is not the first time PM Modi's gesture has won the internet. Earlier this month, Prime Minister briefly paused his address to BJP members after the party’s resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections to check on a worker who appeared unwell.

While speaking about the BJP’s historic dominance across all states in the Delhi National Capital Region—Delhi, Haryana , Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan —PM Modi noticed a party worker in the audience looking uneasy.

Interrupting his speech, he pointed toward the individual and asked in Hindi, "Is he feeling sleepy or unwell? Doctor, please check on him. Give him some water. He seems uneasy—please look after him."

Only after the worker had some water and signalled that he was fine did the Prime Minister resume his speech. Check the video below.

PM Modi Lauds Marathi Literature

Meanwhile, while inaugurating the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Maharashtra ’s rich literary and cultural heritage, highlighting the Marathi language’s contributions to Dalit literature, science fiction, and Ayurveda.

"In the country, the Marathi language has given us very rich Dalit literature. Due to its modern thinking, Marathi literature has also created works of science fiction. In the past, people from Maharashtra have made incredible contributions to Ayurveda, science, and logical reasoning," PM Modi said, acknowledging the region’s intellectual and literary legacy.

When PM Modi Gave Shout-out to Chhava

The prime minister also highlighted the growing stature of Marathi cinema, giving a special mention to the recently released Hindi film Chhaava, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. "Maharashtra and Mumbai are instrumental in elevating the status of Marathi films alongside Hindi movies. The new movie, Chhaava, is making headlines everywhere right now," he remarked.

Further, PM Modi reflected on the legacy of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), noting that it was on Maharashtra’s soil that a "great Marathi-speaking man"—a reference to RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar—laid the foundation of the organization a century ago.

"Today, we will also take pride in the fact that on this land of Maharashtra, a great Marathi-speaking man sowed the seeds of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh 100 years ago. Today it is celebrating its centenary year in the form of a banyan tree," he stated, adding, “I consider myself fortunate that, like millions of others, the RSS has inspired me to live for the nation.”
