Police, CRPF Recover 2 Grenades in Assam's Dibrugarh
The search operation resulted in the recovery of two green colour bottle grenades kept hidden beneath a large Pipal tree.
Dibrugarh: Police recovered two grenades during a search operation in Assam 's Dibrugarh district on Thursday, officials said. Acting on specific inputs, a joint team of Assam Police and the CRPF launched the operation around 2 am near Jyotioni village in the Moran area.
The police said that based on reliable information, a police team led by Additional SP (HQ) and 171st Battalion of the CRPF personnel launched a joint search operation on Thursday at around 2:00 AM near Jyotioni Gaon, Khatkhati under the jurisdiction of Moran Police Station.
During the search, two green bottle grenades were found hidden beneath a large Pipal tree. Assam Director General of Police GP Singh highlighted the successful operation on X, stating, “Plan of violence stymied in Upper Assam. Two grenades recovered in Dibrugarh.”
"The grenades were seized in the presence of the available witnesses. Other necessary legal formalities are being taken accordingly," the police added.
The police confirmed the grenades were seized in the presence of witnesses, and legal formalities are underway.
