In Port Louis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Indian diaspora, said, "Many families from Mauritius attended the Maha Kumbh recently. The world is surprised to see the world's largest gathering attended by 65-66 crore people. Many families of Mauritius could not attend the Maha Kumbh. I was concerned about their sentiments. Hence, I brought the holy water from the Sangam from the time of Maha Kumbh. This holy water will be merged into the Ganga Talab tomorrow. I pray that Mauritius reaches new heights of prosperity by the grace of Maa Ganga."

During his state visit to Mauritius, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian community in Port Louis. Addressing the Indian diaspora, PM Modi said, "When 200 years ago, Indian freedom fighters were brought here by deceit, they were tortured, but in those tough times, Lord Ram and Ramcharitmanas gave them strength and inspiration. I came here in 1998 to attend the International Ramayan Conference. I can still experience that faith today, which I experienced years ago. The same emotions were witnessed last year when Lord Ram Lalla's Pran Pratishtha was organised in Ayodhya. The Mauritius government also announced a half-day holiday. This connection of faith is the base of the friendship between India and Mauritius."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Indian community at Port Louis, said, "Whenever I come to Mauritius, it feels like I have come amongst my own people. There is a feeling of belongingness in the air, soil and water here and this is natural. The blood and sweat of our ancestors is mixed in the soil here."

Addressing the Indian community in Mauritius, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "There was a time when sugar was imported from Mauritius for sweets in the western side of India. Maybe, this was a reason why sugar is also known as 'Moras' in Gujarati. With passage of time, the sweetness of relations between India and Mauritius continues to increase. With this sweetness, I congratulate people of Mauritius on their national day."

On his two-day visit to Mauritius, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the community event in Port Louis, said, "10 years ago, on the same date, I visited Mauritius. Back then Holi had passed a week ago and I had brought the joy of 'Phagwa' with me from India. This time, I will take along colours of Holi from Mauritius."

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam announced its highest award 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean' for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day state visit. Notably, PM Modi is the first Indian to receive the honour. It is the 21st international award bestowed upon PM Modi by a country.

Due to the incessant efforts of PM Modi, the initiative has resulted in planting of more than 1 billion trees in India. Moreover, the impact has spread to countries outside India as well. A total of over 27,500 trees have already been planted in around 136 countries across the world under this initiative, with PM himself having participated in tree plantation in two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet President Dharam Gokhool, PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam To address the community programme in the evening. 

In a heartfelt tweet, Prime Minister Modi shared his memorable welcome in Mauritius, highlighting the deep cultural connection experienced during the visit. He praised the Geet-Gawai performance and commended how the Bhojpuri language continues to thrive and play a significant role in the island's vibrant culture.

PM Modi will e-inaugurate the Area Health Centre and 20 community development projects in Mauritius, including sports infrastructure like football fields.

These projects have been built with an investment of around INR 7 crores, benefiting communities across the island. 

As part of his visit, Prime Minister Modi has paid a visit to the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, a national treasure in Mauritius. Here, Modi paid tribute to former Prime Ministers Seewoosagur Ramgoolam and Anerood Jugnauth, underscoring the historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Geet Gawain is a traditional Bhojpuri musical ensemble that embodies the rich cultural heritage brought to Mauritius by women from the Bhojpuri belt of India.

PM Modi was welcomed by a total of 200 dignitaries at 6am (local time), which included MPs, MLAs, Diplomatic Corps and religious leaders.

Prime Minister Modi is set to inaugurate more than 20 India-funded projects in Mauritius, showcasing India's ongoing support for the island nation.
