Ramadan Mubarak 2025: Crescent Moon Sighted In India, First Roza Tomorrow

The Crescent Moon was sighted in India on Saturday, marking the beginning of holy month of Ramzan from March 2, 2025 – Sunday.

Ramadan Mubarak: The Crescent Moon was sighted in India on Saturday, marking the beginning of holy month of Ramzan. In India, Roza, the holy occasion of fasting would be observed from Sunday, March 2, announced the Jama Masjid, and Lucknow's Shahi Imam.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia will observe Roza from Saturday, March 1, as the moon was sighted on Friday. Ramadan marks the beginning of ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the start of 29 to 30 day period of fasting between dawn and sunset.

This year, the sighting of the crescent moon is aligned with Hijri, Islamic lunar calendar and the Gregorian Calendar. This is a rare alignment which occurs once in every 33 years.

Ramadan, A holy month of fasting before Eid-ul-Fitr  

As the crescent moon was sighted today, it marks the beginning of Roza from Sunday onwards. The people belonging to the Muslim community will observe fast from dawn to dusk for a period of 28-30 days. At the end of the fasting period, people celebrate the festival of Eid.

Apart from fasting, followers of Islam pray for peace, prosperity, indulge in social activities like donating alms or charity. Many also engage in humanitarian activities.

Like India, the crescent moon in Pakistan , Bangladesh and Afghanistan was sighted on Saturday too which means the holy month of Ramzan in these countries will also start from Sunday, March 2, 2025.
