Car Gets Trapped as Road Caves-In near Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai's Prabhadevi
Traffic police with the help of locals pulled out the car from the crater after the cave-in, which briefly disrupted vehicular movement in Dadar.
Mumbai: A road caved in at the Kismat junction on Veer Savarkar Marg in Dadar West, Mumbai, on Thursday around 11:30 am, creating a 3 feet by 5 feet crater and trapping a car’s front left tyre. The incident happened near the Prabhadevi signal, close to the Siddhivinayak Temple, which is seeing increased foot traffic due to the ongoing Ganpati festival.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The incident, which occurred near the busy intersection, briefly disrupted vehicular movement in Dadar. A video of the collapse surfaced on social media, showing the steel grey car’s tyre stuck in the crater while locals gathered to document the scene.
The Mumbai Traffic Police reported slow traffic movement at Swatantryaveer Savarkar Marg, Prabhadevi, due to the large pothole. The municipal corporation has yet to officially respond to the mishap.
Traffic police, assisted by local residents, managed to pull the car out of the crater. A civic official said that the local ward staff and employees from their roads department have been sent to the scene and the damaged portion of the road is being repaired.
