Patna: In a major cabinet reshuffle and expansion, the Bihar government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has finalised its portfolio distribution. Choudhary has retained his position as the Home Minister of Bihar in the new Cabinet. The BJP leader has also retained other key departments, including General Administration, Cabinet Secretariat, Vigilance and Civil Aviation. All ministries that are yet to be allotted are also under Samrat Choudhary.
Samrat Choudhary on Thursday expanded his cabinet in a massive show of NDA strength at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, inducting 32 ministers from alliance partners including the BJP, JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas), and HAM (Secular).
In the new cabinet, the BJP secured the largest share with 15 ministers, including the Chief Minister. Janata Dal (United) got 13 ministerial berths (excluding Deputy CMs).
While NDA ally Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) received two positions, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), led by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, was allotted one ministerial post. Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), headed by former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha, also received one berth, with his son Deepak Prakash taking oath as minister.

Here is the list of portfolios of the ministers in the new Cabinet:
Health Ministry
Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar, who made his political debut after his father resigned as the CM, has been made the Health Minister of Bihar. Nishant Kumar represents the Janta Dal (United) [JD(U)].

Industries and Sports
BJP leader Shreyasi Singh, who became one of the youngest cabinet ministers in Bihar in November 2025, has been retained in the new Cabinet formed by Samrat Choudhary.
The two-time Jamui MLA, who is a Commonwealth goal medalist, has been made the Sports Minister of Bihar. She has also been allotted the Department of Industries.
Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and JD (U) leader Vijay Kumar Choudhary has been allotted two ministries- Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs.
Finance, Commercial Taxes
Deputy Chief Minister and JD (U) leader Bijendra Prasad Yadav has been handed the departments of Finance and Commercial Taxes.
Rural Development, Information and Public Relations
JD (U) leader Shravan Kumar has retained the Rural Development department. He has also been allotted the Information and Public Relations departments.
Agriculture
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, has been made the Agriculture Minister in the new Cabinet. Under the last government of Nitish Kumar, Sinha held the Ministry of Revenue and Land Reforms.
Revenue and Land Reforms
BJP leader Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, who was the Industries Minister in the Nitish Kumar government, has been made the Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms.
Cooperation
BJP leader Ram Kripal Yadav, who was the Agriculture Minister in the last government of Nitish Kumar, has been made the Minister of Cooperation in the new Bihar Cabinet.

Notably, most of the ministers in the new Cabinet were also part of the old Bihar Cabinet under the Nitish Kumar government. The cabinet expansion comes months after the NDA’s landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, where the alliance won 202 out of 243 seats, giving it a commanding three-fourths majority in the state. Within the NDA, the BJP secured 89 seats while the JDU won 85. Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) won 19 seats and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM (Secular) secured five.
